Advent Exercise

Advent Exercise

Something I saw on facebook (and so did a friend) that I thought might make a good spiritual discipline to practice during Advent. Thank you to the Coffee Cups and Crayons website for the idea!

December 1: Give a compliment to a friend;
 Tape change to a vending machine;
 Post a card to a soldier;
 Pick up litter;
 Take coffee to a neighbor;
 Text a hug to someone you love;
 Tell someone a joke and make them laugh;
 Give a person a hug coupon;
 Donate a book to a homeless shelter;
 Leave a thank you note for a server at a restaurant;
 Do some yard work for a neighbor;
 Donate a toy to the community ministry or a family shelter;
 put candy canes on the cars in a parking lot;
 Call a long distance friend to say "Merry Christmas";
 Leave a thank you for the postal delivery person;
 Do a favor for a loved one or friend;
 Donate food items to your community ministry;
 Leave a snack for a friend;
 Smile everyone you pass today;
 Take a bag of feed to an animal shelter;
 Pay for a stranger's coffee;
 Take treats to the police station;
 Feed the birds in your yard;
 Take cookies to the fire station;
 Celebrate Christmas!

You might need to adjust the ideas for various days, but you get the idea...do something for someone else, every day of Advent. It will make the season a little more pleasant for those around you. Shoot, you could do something twice a day and spread twice the joy in your little corner of the world!
